A Jam to Help the Unhoused

Thirteen local musicians will perform to raise funds for a fantastic nonprofit. At 5:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, the Desert Jam will commence, featuring a number of great local music talents, at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage, at 32250 Bob Hope Drive. Keisha D, Frank DiSalvo, Hope Diamond, Yve Evans, Eric Frankson, Bonnie G, Patrice Morris, Kristi King, Lisa Lynn Morgan, Chase Huna, Chris Bennett, Jeanie Cunningham and Tony Grandberry are all set to perform. The beneficiary is Well in the Desert, which provides tens of thousands of hot meals to economically and socially challenged people in Palm Springs; ticket sales from this event will go straight to the nonprofit. Palm Canyon Theatre is excited to extend its production of La Cage Aux Folles! Based on the 1973 French play, this glitzy musical is set in a Saint-Tropez drag nightclub run by Georges and his partner Albin (aka Zaza), the star performer. When George’s son (fathered during a one-night fling) brings home his bride-to-be and her bigoted politician father, farcical adventures ensue as they dance around the “family business.” La Cage Aux Folles now runs through Nov. 17. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians hosts the sixth annual Kewet Native American Learning Day and Market from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at Palm Springs High School, 2401 E. Baristo Road. Kewet, the Cahuilla word for fiesta, is an opportunity for the community to share and experience the culture and history of the local Indigenous people. This free event will feature bird singers and dancers, demonstrations and hands-on activities, including basket weaving, beading, gourd rattle making, traditional games, food and a Native American market. The Coachella Valley Horse Rescue works to save unwanted, abused and neglected horses while connecting people with them to educate and improve the quality of life for veterans, children and seniors.
