The Empire Polo Club, at 81800 51st St., in Indio, is again playing host to Magic of Lights, running through Dec. 29. Travel to Spain Without Leaving the Valley

I love a communal dining experience; the opportunity to connect with strangers over a meal is rare in this country. The Del Rey at the Villa Royale, at 1620 S. Indian Trail, in Palm Springs, is looking to change that by bringing back the monthly Noche de Paella, happening next at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21. This family-style dining experience is $85 per person and features a five-course menu including a welcome bite, a glass of cava, a salad, a tapa, meat and seafood Paella, and dessert. Wine pairings, sangria and other drinks are all available for purchase. The event could sell out, so act fast; next month’s Noche de Paella is slated for Dec. 19. The Del Rey is an adults-only hotel, so this event is 21 and over. For more information, visit villaroyale.com/del-rey/paella. โCharles Drabkin

A Weekend of Youth Theater

High school theater productions are a great place to nurture young talent. Palm Springs High School, at 2401 E. Baristo Road, is mounting a black-box theater production of The Wolves, a one-act play by Sarah DeLappe. It is set in an indoor soccer field; as nine teenage players warm up before their game, they discuss teen drama, genocide, global politics and their bodies. The show runs at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22 and 23; and 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23 and 24. This show contains mature content, so youth under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult. General admission tickets are $8 in advance, available here. โCharles Drabkin
