
Football’s Wartime Heroes

More professional football players fought in World War II than athletes in any other sport. Author and U.S. history instructor Todd Anton presents his book When Football Went to War, which looks at many of the people who came off the field to fight for their country, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Palm Springs Air Museum, at 745 N. Smooth Jazz

Riverside-based indie rockers are headed to the Pioneertown Palace. Join the Tour de Palm Springs, one of the largest cycling charity events of its kind, on Saturday, Feb. 8, in downtown Palm Springs. Coyote Peterson, the host of YouTube’s Brave Wilderness, is known for encountering the planet’s most misunderstood creatures, and combining storytelling with conservation advocacy. He is coming to town for the nearly sold-out International Desert Conservation Summit, but he will also take some time to tell stories from his adventures alongside a surprise animal ambassador from The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, followed by a meet-and-greet at the Palm Garden at The Living Desert, at 47900 Portola Ave., at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 9.
