A multi-platform entertainer is performing an intimate show. At 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19, stage, film, TV and music star Bernadette Peters will showcase her vivacious vocals during an evening of song at Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage, at 32250 Bob Hope Drive. Vinyl Time

Pop Divas

Who doesn’t love classic pop songs sung in an intimate and gorgeous venue? At 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, Maxine Linehan is bringing Modern Muse: Petula Clark and the Women Who Changed Pop to Studio 4707, at 4707 E. Sunny Dunes Road, in Palm Springs, for an intimate cabaret evening. Linehan, an acclaimed artist with appearances at Birdland Jazz Club and Feinstein’s/54 Below, centers the show on the music of Petula Clark, then widens the lens to include voices like Shirley Bassey, Leslie Gore, Dusty Springfield and Cilla Black. Chocolate and Champagne returns for its third year at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Velvet Rope Hotel, at 120 W. Veredasur, in Palm Springs. Guests can expect appetizers, decadent desserts, sparkling champagne, live music and both silent and live auctions. The evening benefits Parkinson’s Research Organization, which works to ensure that no one is isolated because of Parkinson’s. That mission gives the sweetness a little more weight. A Farmer, a Memory, a Mystery

Cinema Français, the Desert Film Society’s annual weekend celebration of French cinema, begins at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Palm Springs Cultural Center, at 2300 E. Baristo Road, with a film that celebrates mystery. Valensole 1965 film follows a farmer who recounts a 1965 extraterrestrial encounter, sparking an investigation. It is not just about little green men, but also about how stories and legends take root. The screening includes the short Garçon! and a post-film Q&A with director Dominique Filhol, co-writer Edouard Blanchot and composer Mark Yaeger. A musically diverse singer-songwriter is heading from Austin to the desert. Campus in Concert

On most Saturdays, school campuses are quiet, but from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, the Palm Desert Charter Middle School campus will be hopping. The annual Rock the House celebration turns the campus at 74200 Rutledge Way into a full-scale performing arts festival. Bands, color guards, dance teams, choirs and percussion ensembles from across the Coachella Valley will perform on various stages, while attendees enjoy food and drink, a silent auction, and the kids’ Fun Zone—all while supporting youth in the arts.
