Why: It’s seasoned!
When it comes to most restaurant hamburgers, I have a beef.
(Pun intended. My apologies.)
Far too many restaurants refuse to sufficiently season their burgers. Maybe they’re concerned about over-working the meat and making the burgers tough. Perhaps they figure the condiments will do the heavy lifting in terms of flavor. Whatever the reason, I STRONGLY disapprove. Proper amounts of seasoning—salt and pepper will do, although at home, I add a bit of garlic powder and onion powder—enhances the flavor of the beef, and makes a burger SO much better.
Anyway … we recently made our first visit to Mark’s Burgers—which opened last fall in Cathedral City—and I am happy to report that the good folks there properly season their burgers.
Mark’s is a smash burger joint. Smash burgers have thinner, and presumably crispier, patties—but oftentimes, those patties can be dry. Thankfully, the cooks at Mark’s know what they’re doing, so their burgers both taste great and have a proper texture—no dryness!
Mark’s also offers chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, wings, tacos and salads, as well as a couple of veggie burgers and, of course, fries. For dessert? Milkshakes! Mark’s has table service, so you don’t have to stand at a counter, and you can order beer and wine, if you please. If you go after seeing a movie at Mary Pickford Is D’Place, save your ticket, and you can get 10 percent off!
The double smash burger we had during our visit was so delicious, the hubby needed to return just a few days later to have another. This is evidence that properly seasoned burgers can be addictive … who knew?
