These lovely flowers can handle the desert sun.

You may have missed the LGBT Community Center of the Desert’s Red Dress Party, held at the Sand Acre Estate this past weekend, but that does not mean we can’t still see red!

If you want some popping color for your summer garden, red pentas and “new look” celosia will hold all summer in full sun. Occasional deadheading (removing dead flower heads) is all that is needed for these hot summer blooms.

Your flowers certainly will appreciate some afternoon shade if you have a choice in location; we all prefer afternoon shade, after all!

Regular water is needed, and some water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks will provide the flowers with their food and drink requirements.
