Rolling Into the Future

A new chapter in the Coachella Valley’s story is about to begin—one through which you can bike or walk. Through Nov. 10, the long-awaited CV Link is officially opening with six days of celebrations stretching from Coachella to Palm Springs. Residents are invited to lace up their shoes, tune up their bikes or plug in their golf carts and take part in ribbon-cuttings, rides and community walks at kickoff events at access points in Indio (Nov. 6), Cathedral City (Nov. 7), Palm Springs (Nov. 7), La Quinta (Nov. 10) and Palm Desert (Nov. 10). (Poor planning on the part of this writer means you missed the city of Coachella today at 10 a.m.) Be part of the group photo, and join the inaugural ride down your segment of the trail with complimentary bike rentals, refreshments and family-friendly fun. Comedy Cabaret

Aunt Lyla.

The wigs are high; the humor is higher; and the clock is ticking, because Aunt Lyla’s Desperate for Fans Tour is bringing one-woman comedy cabaret to Dietlart Gallery and Performance Space, at 4629 E. Sunny Dunes Road, in Palm Springs, at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov 10 and 17. As the story goes: After 20 years as a salon owner and two decades as a radio-advice hostess, Lyla Karug (Jeffrey Wylie) has left her South Texas hometown of Cooterville to chase a lifelong dream: becoming a “cabaret chan-toose.” Her show is part storytelling, part standup and all heart, celebrating aging, ambition and bodily mishaps. This performance is one of the final opportunities to enjoy a show in this space, as the owners have announced plans to “semi-retire” at the end of November. Get your $28.52 tickets, which include two adult beverages, via Eventbrite. —Charles Drabkin
