Art as Resistance

Artists have always led the way in resistance—and now is no different. Fall of Freedom, a sweeping, coordinated act of creative resistance, is happening across the country on November 21-22. More than 500 venues are participating, including theaters, libraries, universities, bookstores and individual studios, standing united against censorship, political strong-arming and the erosion of democratic norms. One of the Fall of Freedom participants, Cathedral City artist Anne Bedrick, is unveiling four new large-scale abstract figurative works created for this event. These emotional pieces are tied to the lived experience of women navigating a moment when autonomy, safety and bodily freedom feel increasingly under siege. Throughout November, Anne Bedrick Fine Art, at 68845 Perez Road, will have these pieces on display. The exhibition is open Mondays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a special public reception from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 28.
