The La Quinta Museum, 77885 Avenida Montezuma, is hosting live music for the final time this season. At 5 p.m., Thursday, May 2, local musicians The Mudbugs will perform a “musical gumbo” of sounds spanning from the Cajun blues of the South to classic Americana and country. The event is free to attend—and you’ll also be able to check out the museum, which is currently hosting the Mission Gráfica exhibit, featuring a collection of activist screenprints. Stars, Cosplay, Art!

Fans of all things TV and film will have a chance to meet and get autographs from a collection of stars! From noon to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 4, enjoy the first ever Palm Springs Entertainment Convention, hosted at the Palm Springs Convention Center, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros. Voice actors, wrestlers and stars of TV and film will celebrate all things entertainment right here in the desert. The event will also feature vendors, panels and a cosplay contest with a cash prize. Remembering Mom … Hilariously

Local comedian (and dear friend) Shann Carr is bringing back her hilarious show Mom’s Dead: An Afternoon of Comedy. I saw this show early on when it was being workshopped—and, trust me, you do NOT want to miss it. In the show, she shares the disturbing, awkward, hilarious and healing stories of growing up with her narcissistic mother—who just happened to have a doctorate in child psychology. See Ivories Get Tickled

A Quarter-Decade of Film Noir

Film noir is characterized by its dark, moody aesthetics, morally ambiguous characters, and complex narratives revolving around crime and mystery. The Arthur Lyons Film Noir Festival is returning to the Palm Springs Cultural Center, 2300 E. Baristo Road, in Palm Springs, from Thursday, May 9, through Sunday, May 12. With 12 different screenings throughout the weekend, this is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in film history.
