Celebrate the birthdays of two desert rockers with a wild evening of entertainment. At 5 p.m., Saturday, July 20, check out the Not Dead Yet Birthday Extravaganza, celebrating the birthdays of restaurant/bar designer and entrepreneur Dion Antic (turning 60), and local eclectic musician Jesika Von Rabbit (age unknown). The event will take place at Snake Bite Roadhouse, 55405 Twentynine Palms Highway, in Yucca Valley, and will feature performances from the Smashing Muffins, Mat Devine of Kill Hannah, Frankie Jordan of Dear Amy Band, Mark Elvis, Jesika Von Rabbit, and Mini Kiss! Summer Chef-ing

The Coachella Valley needs more Middle Eastern food! That portion of the local food scene will get a temporary boost from Friday, July 19, through Sunday, July 21, when some of the hottest Syrian cuisine being made in Los Angeles pops up at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club, 701 E. Palm Canyon Drive, as part of the Taste Buds series. Nawal was founded brothers Armbay and Dotee Zakaria; they honor their mother’s recipes and their Circassian heritage by offering dishes like ful memdes, a fava-bean stew; falafel and ground beef; and lamb kebab. These special menu items will be available for lunch and dinner all three days; if not everyone in your party wants a taste of the Levant, Kings Highway’s regular menu will also be available. Here’s the Story

Nostalgia meets camp at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, when the Brady Bunch Movie plays on the big screen at the Mary Pickford Is D’Place theater, 36850 Pickfair St., in Cathedral City, with one of the film’s writers, Stan Zimmerman. If you haven’t seen the movie, here’s the plot: The 1970s family finds themselves in the 1990s, where they’re even more out of place than before. Opera in the Cinema

Four films from The Metropolitan Opera’s series of live-cinema events are returning to theaters across the valley. The first of which, Puccini’s La Bohème, takes place at 1 and 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, at four cinemas, including the Century La Quinta and XD (46800 Washington St.), Century Theaters at The River and XD (71800 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage). Mary Pickford Is D’Place (36850 Pickfair St., Cathedral City) and the Palm Springs Courtyard Stadium 9 (789 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way); the times vary between theaters. This 2018 performance of the tragic love story of a poor poet, Rodolfo, and a seamstress, Mimi, is set against the backdrop of bohemian life in Paris. Jazz and Latin in an Italian Restaurant

A classic Italian restaurant in Palm Springs is hosting live music by a killer local jazz band. At 8 p.m., Thursday, July 25, jazz trio Black Market Jazz will perform at Cipolline Osteria, 1260 S. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs. Enjoy some delicious food and drink; watch a tremendous group of jazz cats blast their way through standards, and jam with some jazz fusion.
