Enjoy a classic monster tale—in two ways! At 6:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, enjoy the Filmland Cinema Club, hosted at the Coachella Valley Collective, at 1030 Sixth St., Unit 8, in Coachella. A double-feature of Frankenstein films will take place, as the venue will screen Lisa Frankenstein at 6:30 p.m., followed by Poor Things (pictured) at 8:30 p.m. Both films explore the classic story of Frankenstein and take the timeless monster tale to wild new heights with moments of comedy, feminism and more. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. For more information, visit www.instagram.com/thecvcollective. —Matt King
A Sharp Tongue and a Live Piano

Some shows thrive on spectacle. Others work because the person onstage knows exactly who they are, and how to tell a story. Big Bawdy Bouvèé fits both of these categories. At 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 30, Miss Bouvèé brings her live-singing, story-driven drag cabaret to Oscar’s Palm Springs, at 125 E Tahquitz Canyon Way; doors open at 5:30 p.m. Miss Bouvèé has more than two decades of performance experience, plus recent screen time in the feature film Big Easy Queens (alongside one of my favorite queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17, Suzie Toot). Assuming the weather allows, the show will take place outdoors, so dress warmly! Tickets start at $44.95; the show has a two-drink minimum and is limited to people 21 and older. Saving the World, One Pollinator at a Time

If your kids want to do their part to save the world, The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, at 47900 Portola Ave., in Palm Desert, has them covered. Mission: Pollination! runs Saturday, Jan. 31, through Thursday, April 30, daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., turning the zoo visit into an interactive quest. Families choose a team—Bloomkeeper, Leafbound or Shadowcraft—then follow clues across the grounds, solving riddles and encountering oversized pollinators brought to life with animatronics, climbable features and hands-on moments. Along the way, kids learn how pollinators are responsible for about one-third of the food we eat, plus plenty of everyday essentials. The mission wraps up at the Pollinator Playground, a maze-style challenge where teamwork and curiosity are rewarded with a collectible trading card tied to your team. Mission: Pollination! is included with regular zoo admission (starting at $39.95 for adults, and $29.95 for kids ages 3-17) or membership. Quintet Energy

Oakwood Brass will examine the concept of improvisation, applied in both classic and modern works, with an energetic concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, at Grace Church, 17400 Bubbling Wells Road, in Desert Hot Springs. The hourlong program moves from Renaissance composer Tylman Susato to the rhythms of New Orleans’ second line music, all filtered through the bright sound of a classical brass quintet. This is chamber music that knows how to have a good time. The concert is presented by Desert Hot Springs Classical Concerts, and as always, there are no tickets or reservations required—but cash donations at the door are always appreciated.
