Modern Men Presents ‘Sing Out!’
After years of extraordinary leadership, Dr. Stan Hill takes the podium for the final time as artistic director of Modern Men—a milestone moment honoring his remarkable legacy and the lasting impact he has had on the chorus and our community. This concert is both a celebration of his achievements and a tribute to the future he has helped shape.
Taking place at the historic Palm Springs Plaza Theatre, where Modern Men proudly serves as the ensemble-in-residence, Sing Out! is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful program showcasing some of the most beautiful music ever written—anchored by the soaring lyricism of Ennio Morricone’s “Gabriel’s Oboe” and a radiant selection from Birds of Paradise.
Audiences will be taken on a dynamic musical journey that blends beloved masterworks with bold, contemporary works from leading university and community choruses across the country. Each piece has been thoughtfully curated to inspire and connect—from moments of quiet reflection to thrilling, full-ensemble power
Adding to the evening’s impact is a breathtaking male/male pas de deux performed alongside a live string quartet—an exquisite fusion of movement and music that creates a truly immersive experience.
Join us for this unforgettable evening as we honor Dr. Hill’s legacy and celebrate the transformative power of the human voice.
Modern Men presents Sing Out! at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18; and 3 p.m., Sunday, April 19, at the Plaza Theatre, at 128 S. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs. Artists Take Shape

See works by artists who are first learning their craft, before résumés and price lists. The College of the Desert Student Art Show opens with a reception and student art fair from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 9, at the Marks Art Center, at 43500 Monterey Ave., on the Palm Desert campus, with the exhibition continuing through May 8. Expect a wide range of mediums and perspectives, from ceramics and painting to mixed media. Student shows have a different kind of energy; these are artists still shaping their voice, taking risks that more established artists sometimes avoid.
