Dining Out for Life: Support DAP Health Tomorrow, April 23
Dining Out for Life Greater Palm Springs is tomorrow, Thursday, April 23. Local restaurants, bars and coffee shops are donating a generous percentage of their sales to DAP Health—and our community shows up to dine out and do good.
Proceeds support whole-person HIV care at DAP Health, including primary care, mental health support, and specialized programs and services—because caring for someone means caring for the whole person.

Island Escapism

For a few days each spring, the Caliente Tropics Hotel, at 411 E. Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs, holds a celebration of all things tiki. Tiki Caliente, from Thursday, April 30, through Sunday, May 3, is a celebration of Polynesian pop culture, with live music, DJs spinning vinyl, late-night lounge shows and a steady flow of rum-forward cocktails. The weekend is all about wandering, whether that means browsing vendors selling vintage aloha wear and handmade mugs, drifting between room parties, or simply finding a poolside chair and staying put. Tucked into the schedule are some interesting learning opportunities, including the New England Tiki Symposium, at 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, where author Kevin Quigley explores the history of Tiki culture in a region better known for cold harbors than tropical drinks. Tickets to the symposium are $35, while full weekend wristbands are $189. For more information, visit tiki-caliente.com. —Charles Drabkin
